Every Critical Access Hospital we talk to eventually asks the same question, usually while staring at a renewal quote. "We have 90 employees. Why are we being told we need enterprise licensing? We are a small business."

It is a fair question, and the sticker price makes it sharper. As of the July 1, 2026 Microsoft pricing update, nonprofit pricing for Microsoft 365 Business Premium sits at $5.50 per user per month, while Microsoft 365 E3 sits at $9.75. That is a $4.25 difference per user. For a 100 seat facility, that is roughly $5,100 a year. Real money in a rural budget.

Between department huddles, vendor calls, committee meetings, and everything else that lands on a calendar in a rural health care organization, somebody is always stuck taking notes. That person is usually the one who most needed to be paying attention to the discussion instead.

Microsoft Teams can handle that for you. With a few settings turned on ahead of time, a meeting will record itself, produce a written transcript, and generate a set of notes with decisions and action items already pulled out. Nobody has to remember to press a button.
